CHOREOGRAPHY
Dance auditions will take place during the chorus auditions as well as at the end of every hour block for leads. This means if you audition for a lead you will also do the chorus audition. You are welcome to come back and join in the fun with the chorus but you do not have to.
WHAT CHOREOGRAPHERS ARE LOOKING FOR
-
Performers who can be used for the main dance portions of several scenes.
-
To see if you can learn choreography
-
To see if you have a positive attitude towards learning new things. We don’t expect perfection, just an understanding of movement.
DANCE AUDITION INFORMATION
-
Children only need to learn the villager choreography unless they appear to be 18 years and older, and then they are welcome to do both if they want to be considered for the ballroom scene.
-
Waltz choreography – It doesn’t matter what role you learn. If you are learning with a friend, then each friend can learn a separate part to make practicing easier. It will also be helpful during auditions if not everybody learns the same part. Thank you to Abigail, Ryland and Fionna for assisting in making the practice videos. Choose a person to follow and learn that part.
-
Don’t get discouraged if you can’t do everything. We have put a bit of everything in each combo so that we can figure out who will be suited for what parts of each dance. The opening scene just has a lot of marching so don’t worry. There is a part for you as long as you can march!
-
Above all just have fun!
-
We know the waltz track provided is slightly different than the video track but the choreography works the same. The track is slightly slower and has a different line at the end.
